Device Collection of all Workstations

If you need to create a Device Collection in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager that shows you only workstations (not laptops and virtual machines), you can create a query that consists of two criteria, System Enclosure – Chassis Type and Computer System – System Manufacturer.

Here’s the query to show only Dell workstations:

select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,
SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,
SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_SYSTEM_ENCLOSURE
on SMS_G_System_SYSTEM_ENCLOSURE.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join
SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceId =
SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_SYSTEM_ENCLOSURE.ChassisTypes
in ("3","4","5","6","7","13") and SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Manufacturer like "%Dell%"
